2048 5x5 expands the classic number-merging puzzle from 16 to 25 cells. The additional row and column provide more room to arrange tiles, prepare combinations, and recover from awkward placements.

The opening is more flexible than on a 4x4 grid, but careless moves can still leave the board full of mismatched numbers. Combine equal tiles, work toward 2048, and keep playing to improve your score.

Move And Merge The Tiles

Each directional input slides every tile until the edge or another number blocks it. Two matching tiles combine into one with twice the value, such as 8 + 8 = 16. A newly formed tile can merge only once during that move, so longer combinations may require several swipes.

After every valid move, a new low-value tile appears in an empty cell. Repeated swipes can produce quick combinations, but they may also place incompatible numbers between useful pairs. Check the entire row or column before moving rather than focusing only on the nearest merge.

Manage The Larger Board

Use the extra cells as a staging area for smaller numbers, but avoid scattering tiles across the center. Keep your largest tile in one corner and arrange the next-highest values beside it in descending order. You can then build smaller combinations on the opposite side before feeding them into the main chain.

Favor two adjacent directions that push tiles toward your chosen corner. Move away from that corner only when it corrects the layout or creates essential space. Preserving several empty cells is also important because it gives new tiles room to appear and makes later realignment easier.

As the grid fills, prioritize moves that create space or connect matching values. A swipe that only rearranges the board may introduce another tile without improving your position.

Track Your Score And Best Run

Every merge adds the resulting tile's value to your score. The interface displays your current total and best result, while an optional account lets you save scores and compete on the leaderboard.

You can restart an unworkable board at any time or switch between light and dark themes without changing the gameplay.

Controls

• Arrow keys: Slide all tiles up, down, left, or right.
