Snake 2048 transforms the familiar number-merging rule into a real-time 3D arena game. You control a winged number cube, collect loose blocks, and build a chain containing values such as 2, 4, 8, 16, and beyond.
Other numbered snakes move through the same arena. Growing is important, but survival also depends on recognizing which rivals you can defeat and which ones you should avoid.
Your run begins with a winged cube marked 2. This is the head of your snake and represents its current strength. Guide it around the arena to collect number blocks and extend the chain behind it.
Every collected cube joins your snake. When two matching values meet in the chain, they automatically combine into the next number:
One merge can create another matching pair, producing a chain reaction. Consistent collection therefore matters more than chasing a single block, especially during the early part of a run.
As your numbers increase, the strongest block moves toward the front of the chain. This leading value determines your current level and your ability to challenge rival snakes.
Every rival has a winged leading cube that shows its strength. Compare that number with your own before moving into its path.
A rival with a lower leading value is a possible target. When defeated, its chain breaks apart and leaves numbered cubes in the arena. Collecting these blocks can produce several merges in a short time.
A stronger rival is a serious threat. If your leading value is lower when the snakes collide, your current run ends. Since several opponents can enter the same area, remaining near a defeated snake for too long may also leave you surrounded.
The value of your leading cube is connected to the level reached during the run. For example, building a stronger head raises your level and improves the range of opponents you can safely challenge.
When your snake is defeated, the result screen displays the level you reached. The game then offers two choices:
Before starting another attempt, you can choose between Easy and Hard difficulty. Easy mode limits some of the threats found in the arena, making it more suitable for learning the merging and collision rules. Hard mode introduces a wider range of rivals and is connected to green shield rewards.
Green shields are used for the Mass upgrade shown on the main menu. The first upgrade costs 100 shields and provides two improvements:
Beginning with a larger value reduces the time needed to reach the first few merges, but stronger rivals can still defeat you.
