What's 2048 Dogs?

2048 Dogs is a charming number-merging puzzle created for players who enjoy dogs and thoughtful board games. It replaces ordinary numbered blocks with colorful portraits of different pups while preserving the familiar logic of 2048.

Each dog tile still carries a value, beginning with small numbers such as 2 and 4. As you combine identical tiles, their values increase and new dog breeds appear. The ultimate objective is to create the rare 2048 dog on the compact 4×4 board.

Merge Matching Pups to Reach 2048

Swipe in one of four directions to move every tile across the board. When two matching dogs with the same value meet, they merge into a single tile worth twice as much. For example, two 2 tiles produce a 4, while two 4 tiles become an 8.

A new low-value dog appears after a valid move, gradually reducing the available space. You must continue building larger matches without allowing incompatible tiles to overcrowd the grid. Reaching 2048 wins the game, while a full board with no possible matches brings the attempt to an end.

The changing dog portraits make progression easy to recognize. Every successful combination introduces a more valuable pup and brings you closer to the final breed.

Track Every Attempt

The display records three useful statistics during each game:

Moves: Shows how many swipes you have made.
Score: Increases whenever matching dogs combine.
Time: Measures how long the current attempt has lasted.

A high-score table stores the five best results and compares their scores, move counts, and completion times. This gives you several ways to improve, from earning a higher score to building valuable tiles more efficiently.

Controls

Mouse: Click and drag left, right, up, or down to move the tiles.
Touchscreen: Swipe across the board in the desired direction.
Pause button: Temporarily stops the current game.
Restart button: Clears the board and begins a fresh attempt.
List button: Opens the high-score table.

Strategies for Unlocking Rare Dogs

Keep your highest-value dog in one corner whenever possible.
Arrange nearby tiles in descending order to create a stable merging chain.
Preserve empty spaces so new dogs do not block future combinations.
Avoid swiping randomly, especially when the board becomes crowded.
Check every row and column before moving a valuable tile away from its position.
Build smaller matches early to prevent low-value dogs from spreading across the grid.
